Why Bother to Eat Healthy?

It’s unbelievable! Just when I develop a taste for fish, experts are telling us they’re not as healthy as they used to be. Environmental toxins and pollution have fouled many species of ocean life. Mercury, lead and PCBs in tuna and other fish make it dangerous to eat a once-important source of essential fatty acids and protein. I don’t know about you, but I had to ask myself, “why bother looking for healthy fish to eat?”

That is not fair to me and I should not have to pay for them. They don’t care so, why should I? And why should my taxes go up so people that don’t take care about themselves can abuse yet another government social program? Now you are probably saying; yet you Republicans; always complain about taxes and you never have a solution.

With good planning you can provide vegetables all year round with staggered sowing s and winter varieties of things. You can have quality veg when it is expensive in the shops, you can grow the unfashionable but delicious varieties you can’t find in the shops. You have the choice whether you use pesticides or chemical based fertilizers, or model your allotment on the organic system the choice is yours.

It’s not always easy to find a healthy meal, especially if you are extremely busy and have to get some of your meals at work or on the go. But eating out healthy is possible, as long as you know which items on the menu to look for and which ones to avoid. You can even enjoy some of your favorite greasy treats as long as you are willing to cut back on the portion size and eliminate some of the condiments. For example, if you usually get a combo meal with a huge cheeseburger, large fries, and large milkshake, make the following substitution: get a kiddie meal with a diet soda to drink. You’ll still be getting your burger and fries, just much less of them. Of course, although this is a good start, it’s still not the proper way to eat out healthy. What you really need to do is start looking at the more nutritious options on the menu, which many of the more popular fast food restaurants have these days.

On T.V. and on the internet, heck, anywhere you look nowadays there’s some ad somewhere for either some miracle diet or miracle pill that’s going to make you lose weight faster than you put it on. Chances are these “miracles” as they are called are either really expensive or a scam and in some cases both! Honestly, from what I’ve found out there, the biggest “secret” is really cutting your calories and exercising. Okay, wait, before you roll your eyes and click on your Google search bar, I do have a point. Keep reading, I promise it’s a good one.
